Privacy policy

Short version

Scootify (scootify.eco) is a static informational site with no accounts, no forms, no comments, and no analytics. We do not directly collect personal data: the site has no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, no cookies, no third-party trackers, and no browser fingerprinting.

Below is exactly what happens with your data when you open scootify.eco.

What the hosting server sees

The site is hosted on Firebase Hosting (Google Cloud). On every request the server sees your IP address, browser User-Agent, Referer (where you came from), and the timestamp — these are standard HTTP logs for any web server. Google handles those logs as the hosting provider; volume and retention are governed by the Google Cloud privacy notice and Privacy Notice for Google Workspace and Cloud Identity Customers. We do not run any analytics layer over those logs, do not aggregate them into user profiles, and do not share them with third parties.

Cookies and local storage

scootify.eco does not set cookies and does not use localStorage / sessionStorage / IndexedDB for marketing, analytics, or tracking. Possible future exception — interface preferences (e.g. dark/light theme) saved exclusively in your browser and never transmitted anywhere; this section will be updated when such a feature appears.

Search at /search/ is powered by Pagefind. All indexing and query evaluation runs in your browser — your search term is not sent to our server and never leaves your device as a discrete query. The server only delivers static index files (/pagefind/*.pf_meta, *.pagefind), identical for every visitor.

Embedded YouTube videos

Some pages embed YouTube players. We use a lazy-load implementation (lite-youtube-embed): before you click “Play”, only the thumbnail image is fetched from YouTube (i.ytimg.com/vi/<id>/hqdefault.jpg) — a limited, static resource. The full YouTube player with its cookies, trackers, and JavaScript code is loaded only after your explicit click.

All embedded players use YouTube privacy-enhanced mode — the www.youtube-nocookie.com domain instead of the standard www.youtube.com (confirmed by YouTube). This means YouTube does not set any cookies in your browser until you press “Play” — even when JavaScript is disabled in your browser and the <noscript> iframe loads immediately. Cookies set by YouTube after “Play” are isolated to the youtube-nocookie.com origin and do not merge with your watch history on www.youtube.com.

After the click, YouTube’s / Google’s privacy policy applies — we do not control it and have no access to what YouTube does with your data at that point.

Article content contains many links to scientific papers, manufacturer documentation, standards, and Wikipedia. Following such links takes you outside scootify.eco. We do not know what the third-party site does with your data; check their privacy policy separately if that matters to you.

Email contact

The site footer includes a mailto:leonid@dzyha.com link. Clicking it opens your default email client with the address pre-filled; nothing is transmitted until you press “Send” yourself. If you write to us, we receive your email address, name (if provided), and the message content — and use them only to reply to your inquiry, without storing them in any database outside the email server.

User rights (GDPR / CCPA / others)

Because we do not collect personal data, we physically have no database from which to retrieve, correct, or delete your data. If you believe that is not so — write to leonid@dzyha.com and we will check.

Children

The site is not specifically directed at children under 13. We do not know visitors’ ages and do not ask. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent us personal data through email, let us know and we will delete it from the mail server.

Changes to the policy

This policy may be updated. The last review date is shown at the top of the page. Substantive changes (e.g. a new data-collecting feature) will be accompanied by a visible notice on the site.
