Apollo Pro

SKU: SCT-APPRO-001

Description

The Apollo Pro (2023) is the Canadian brand’s flagship performance scooter, built around two 52V hub motors rated at 1200W each (a combined 2400W nominal, with peak output cited at up to 6000W). Power is drawn from a 52V 30Ah Samsung 21700 battery pack totalling 1560Wh, which Apollo rates for up to roughly 101km (about 63 miles) of range, with independent testers recording closer to 36-39 miles under harder riding. The Pro runs on 12-inch self-healing tubeless pneumatic tyres and uses sealed dual drum brakes paired with a dedicated regenerative-braking throttle for low-maintenance stopping. Suspension is adjustable front and rear, combining a hydraulic-and-spring front shock with a rubber torsion system at the rear. The cockpit centres on a Quad Lock phone-as-display mount with an auxiliary DOT-matrix screen, backed by Apollo’s app for ride logging, mode tuning, GPS and remote lock. The deck and frame carry an IP66 weather rating. The Pro is a heavy machine at roughly 42-43kg, placing it firmly in the high-performance rather than commuter-portable category.

Model history

Apollo Scooters, founded in Montreal in 2018, launched the original Apollo Pro as its long-range flagship around 2020. The fully redesigned 2023 Pro was developed through six design iterations with around 150 custom-made parts and debuted via an Indiegogo campaign, going on to win a Red Dot Design Award. Reviewer Micah Toll at Electrek described it as unlike any high-power scooter he had tested before.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • Confident, stable handling with large 12-inch tyres and tuned geometry
  • Sealed drum brakes are weatherproof and very low maintenance
  • Strong, usable regenerative braking via a dedicated thumb throttle
  • Deep app and cockpit integration with phone-as-display and GPS tracking
  • Self-healing tubeless tyres reduce puncture risk on rough surfaces

Cons

  • Very heavy at roughly 42-43kg, awkward to carry or lift despite folding
  • Real-world tested range (around 36-39 miles) falls well short of the rated maximum
  • Top speed near 71km/h far exceeds the legal limit in most jurisdictions
  • Suspension is firmer than some rivals, drawing comparison to plusher competitors
  • Charge time is long at roughly 6 hours on the standard charger

Verdict

The Apollo Pro (2023) is a polished, design-led flagship that rides exceptionally well, with stable handling, low-maintenance sealed drum brakes and one of the most integrated app-and-cockpit experiences on a scooter. Its weight and firm suspension are the main compromises, and its top speed is intended for closed or legal-speed contexts rather than typical public roads.

What reviewers say

  • The scooter simply rides damn well. It leans and carves with ease, stands back up in an instant.
    Electrek (Micah Toll)
  • I wish the Pro had a more plush suspension system, especially when compared to its esteemed rival the NAMI Burn-e 2.
    Electric Scooter Insider
  • Best ever build and ride quality, highlighted as a key strength alongside its modern, clean and appealing aesthetic.
