DUALTRON

Dualtron X2

SKU: SCT-DTX-001

Description

The Dualtron X2 is the second-generation incarnation of Minimotors’ halo machine, sitting at the very top of the Dualtron range. It pairs two BLDC hub motors rated at 4150 W each (8300 W combined peak) with a large 72 V, 42 Ah LG lithium-ion battery, giving a claimed top speed around 109 km/h and a manufacturer range of up to 150 km. The chassis rides on 13-inch tubeless pneumatic tyres with 19-step adjustable hydraulic suspension front and rear, hydraulic disc brakes with ABS, and an EY3 display. With a kerb weight near 66 kg and a 150 kg load rating, it is built for sustained high-speed touring rather than convenience. It is one of the most powerful and longest-range stand-up scooters ever produced.

  • Manufacturer range up to 150 km
  • 13-inch tubeless pneumatic tyres with adjustable hydraulic suspension front and rear
  • Hydraulic disc brakes with ABS and IP54 rating

Model history

Minimotors, the South Korean maker behind the Dualtron name, launched the original Dualtron X in 2019 as a deliberate exercise in excess: dual 3360 W motors (6720 W peak), a 60 V 49 Ah / 2940 Wh pack, 13-inch tyres and roughly 65 kg of mass. In 2021 the company announced the Dualtron X2 as ‘the rebirth of the legendary Dualtron X’, upgrading to a 72 V 42 Ah LG battery, 8300 W peak dual motors, a wider stem, ABS-equipped hydraulic brakes and an IP54 rating. The X and X2 cemented Dualtron’s reputation as ‘the house of excess’ at the hyper end of the market.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • Among the most powerful stand-up scooters ever built, with strong sustained acceleration
  • Very long manufacturer-claimed range from the 3024 Wh battery
  • Adjustable hydraulic suspension front and rear plus large 13-inch tyres deliver a comfortable, stable ride
  • Hydraulic disc brakes with ABS provide confident stopping at high speed
  • Robust aviation-grade aluminium deck and chassis built for touring

Cons

  • Very heavy at roughly 66 kg; not practical to carry up stairs or onto public transport despite folding
  • Top speed far exceeds the legal limit for road or path use in most jurisdictions
  • Long charging time (around 8 hours on the standard charger; faster only with extra chargers)
  • Large folded footprint demands significant storage space
  • Real-world range falls well short of the headline figure under hard riding

Verdict

The Dualtron X2 is a halo product aimed at riders who prioritise raw power, range and stability over portability or convenience. Its weight, charge time and speed make it impractical and often illegal for everyday street use, but as a long-distance high-performance machine it remains a benchmark for the hyper class.

What reviewers say
