SEGWAY
Segway SuperScooter GT1
SKU: SCT-SGGT1-001
Description
The Segway SuperScooter GT1 is the entry model of Segway-Ninebot’s GT performance series, positioned below the dual-motor GT2. It drives a single rear hub motor rated for a 3000W peak output and around 50Nm of torque, fed by a 52V, 1008Wh pack that Segway cools with a multi-layer heat-flux system. Segway quotes a top speed of about 60km/h (37.3mph) and a maximum range near 70km, though independent testing by Rider Guide recorded a real-world top speed of roughly 55.5km/h and around 35km of range under hard riding. The chassis carries 11-inch anti-puncture tubeless tyres, dual 140mm hydraulic disc brakes, and front double-wishbone plus rear trailing-arm suspension, each adjustable across 15 damping levels. A central LCD shows ride data, and the Segway app adds ride modes, ambient lighting, zero-start and Sentinel anti-theft. The scooter is folding but heavy at around 47.5kg, and it is rated IPX4 for water resistance with a maximum payload of 150kg.

Model history
Segway-Ninebot introduced the SuperScooter GT series as its flagship performance line, launching the single-motor GT1 alongside the dual-motor GT2. The GT1 brought features previously reserved for enthusiast brands - adjustable dual suspension, hydraulic brakes and a high-capacity cooled battery - into Segway’s mainstream catalogue. It was reviewed by outlets such as Rider Guide and Electric Scooter Guides shortly after release.

Pros & cons
Pros
- Strong acceleration and hill-climbing from the 3000W-peak motor
- Dual adjustable suspension and 11-inch tyres give a comfortable, controlled ride
- Hydraulic disc brakes front and rear for consistent stopping
- Self-sealing tubeless tyres reduce puncture risk
- App adds ride modes, anti-theft and lighting customisation
Cons
- Heavy at about 47.5kg, making it awkward to carry or lift despite folding
- Single charger needs roughly 12 hours for a full charge (about 6 hours with the included dual charger)
- Top speed far exceeds the legal limits for road or path use in most regions
- Independent testing showed real-world range and speed well below the manufacturer’s headline figures
- Only IPX4 rated, so not suited to heavy rain or wet immersion
Verdict
The GT1 is a capable single-motor performance scooter that delivers brisk acceleration, comfortable suspension and strong braking, making it a sibling that covers most of the GT2’s ground without a second motor. Its weight, long single-charger time and the gap between claimed and tested range are the main trade-offs to weigh, and its speed sits well above legal limits in most places.
What reviewers say
-
The acceleration is brisk, and I can confirm it handles hills with an impressive fortitude, barely flinching at inclines that would bog down lesser scooters.
