Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter (M365)
SKU: XIAOMI-M365
Description
The Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter (M365) is a single-motor folding kickscooter built around a front brushless hub motor rated at 250 W nominal and 500 W peak. Power comes from a 36 V pack of LG 18650 cells of roughly 7.8 Ah (280 Wh), giving a claimed range of 30 km in eco mode, while independent tests measure an average of about 28 km in normal riding. It reaches a top speed of 25 km/h, rolls on 8.5-inch pneumatic tyres with no suspension, and stops via a rear mechanical disc brake paired with front-wheel regenerative (KERS) braking. An aluminium frame and one-step folding stem give a dry weight of just 12.5 kg — the defining portability trait of the model. Xiaomi is a Beijing technology company founded by Lei Jun in 2010 that sells scooters under its Mi/Mijia ecosystem brand; the M365 was designed and built for it by Ninebot, which acquired Segway in 2015. The trade-off for that compactness is the absence of suspension, basic IP54 protection, and a single battery-level LED in place of a full dashboard, with speed modes, cruise control and telemetry available only through the app.

Model history
The M365 was launched by Xiaomi in December 2016 and manufactured by Ninebot/Segway. It is one of the most historically significant electric scooters ever made: it set the global template for the mass-market folding commuter (250 W motor, 8.5-inch pneumatic tyres, ~12.5 kg, app and IP54). The M365 was the hardware behind the first Bird sharing scooters, which launched roughly three months after it appeared, helping ignite the worldwide dockless-sharing boom. The model sold in the millions, became the most-cloned design in the industry, and remains the de-facto reference point against which every entry-tier rival is still measured.

Pros & cons
Pros
- Very light at 12.5 kg and folds compactly via its one-step mechanism
- Pneumatic tyres smooth out small bumps better than solid-tyre rivals
- Mature, widely supported app with speed modes, cruise control and telemetry
- Proven, ubiquitous design with readily available parts and community support
- Range and speed adequate for typical entry-level urban trips
Cons
- No suspension, so the ride is noticeably firmer on uneven surfaces
- Battery-level LED only — no full dashboard on the handlebar
- Basic IP54 rating is rated for light splashes only
- Maximum load of 100 kg limits suitability for heavier riders
- Front-wheel drive and a modest 250 W output weaken hill-climbing traction
Verdict
The Xiaomi M365 is the reference entry-class folding commuter, prioritising light weight and portability over comfort or outright performance. It suits beginners and anyone who needs a light, predictable scooter for short, flat city routes.
